J.R.R. Tolkien's The Adventures of Tom Bombadil includes a poem entitled The Mewlips, about some otherwise unknown but quite unpleasant creatures. According to the poem, they live in a swampy ruin beyond the Merlock Mountains and the Marsh of Toad. It does not sound like a nice place to travel.
This 375 piece vignette is based on the Pauline Baynes illustration that accompanied the original poem. It began as a study in doing a highly-detailed small scene and turned out better than I expected. I am particularly pleased with all the parts sunk in the swamp, although the cracked-open door with something peering out is a close second.
