The Aquabats
Every LEGO City needs heros to defend the people and there are none better than the Aquabats, cruising the streets in their Battletram.
The Aquabats are an American rock band which formed in Orange County, California in 1994. The Aquabats! Super Show! TV series ran from 2012 to 2014 and featured the band members, lead singer The MC Bat Commander, bass guitarist Crash McLarson, Jimmy the Robot on keyboards, drummer Ricky Fitness and lead guitar Eagle "Bones" Falconhawk. For this ideas submission the minifigures have been based on a Band poster and would be redesigned by Lego's art department if the project is successful.
The Battletram is based on a six wheeled GMC Motorhome, it has been designed so that the interior can be easily accessed to allow the Aquabats to be seated inside. In the TV show the interior of the Battletram like a TARDIS with several rooms and corridors; unfortunately the laws of physics stopped me being able to create that for this set.
In all 21 episodes of the Aquabats! Super Show! were made and the programme was nominated for eight daytime Emmy Awards of which it won one. The band have also released 5 albums.
The Aquabats! Super Show! was a fun show aimed at children and I think it would fit in well with the LEGO ethos.
