Lego Star Fox
“It’s about time you showed up Fox!”
The Star Fox series has maintained a strong legacy since its introduction back in 1993, being the first home console game by Nintendo to feature 3D graphics. The series went on to create other iconic entries such as Star Fox 64 that have led to the series living on in the hearts and minds of players ever since.
Having just passed the 30th anniversary of the series on February 21st of this year, what better time to celebrate than with an official Star Fox Lego set! The set depicts the iconic starfighter used by the Star Fox crew: The Arwing!
Features of The Set
“I see 'em up ahead, let’s rock and roll!”
The build features many authentic elements that Star Fox fans will appreciate.
This Arwing design takes inspiration from a variety of its appearances including Star Fox 64, Star Fox Command, and StarLink Battle for Atlas.
Lots of slope pieces have been used in order to capture the iconic ship’s angular design!
The Iconic Gravity Diffusers are articulated, in order to both capture the proper angle and offer more variety in the ship's poseability.
The ship features joints on the wings in order to allow display in different flight modes. The wings can be angled backwards to portray “Corridor Mode”, for levels where the player flies in a specific direction. They can also be angled forward to convey “All-Range Mode” when the player has total freedom to steer.
The wings feature articulated ailerons, for increased poseability. (How else will you “Do a barrel roll”?)
The cockpit window can also be removed in order to access the pilot's seat interior.
“All aircraft report!”
No Arwing would be complete without the Star Fox crew! The set includes minifigures based on the classic lineup, Fox McCloud, Falco Lombardi, Peppy Hare, and Slippy Toad! There are plenty of existing elements that could bring these characters to life with a high level of accuracy.
The set would include:
-Fox McCloud, Falco Lombardi, Peppy Hare and Slippy Toad Minifigures
-Brick Built Arwing Model
-Articulated Gravity Diffusers
-Articulated wings (for Corridor or All-Range Modes)
The model was designed in Stud.io but assembled using real Lego bricks. The minifigures were drawn digitally in photoshop, but rotoscoped using images of real Lego minifigures in order to capture the shapes of real Lego Bricks.
Thank you for reading and I hope you’ll consider supporting this project. Every step brings us one step closer to potentially getting an official Lego Star Fox set!
“Sorry to jet, but I’m in a hurry!”
