Jean (Leon) Foucault was a French physicist who created the gyroscope to study the rotation of the Earth. The gyroscope is a challenge to be made of LEGO, a challenge that I was willing to accept. When I was originally thinking of what exactly I should build, I thought, "What is something that someone would want to display for others to see?". So I looked at vintage items and came across the gyroscope. And I knew from the moment I saw it, it was the winner. I wanted to make sure that the model maintained the vintage look that the first one has, while maintaining the functionality a gyroscope has. Because of the gyroscopes interesting look, it would be a great display piece on a shelf or on a desk. You could even show it to your friends, and they would think that it's cool.
