Tensegrity Gatekeepers' Tower is a compact and magical build inspired by the timeless LEGO Castle theme, styled to match the more recent Lion Knights' Castle (10305) set. What makes this build unique is its use of tensegrity—a clever engineering principle that creates the illusion of the upper part of the tower floating above its base. With 268 pieces, it’s perfectly sized to be a LEGO Gift with Purchase (GwP): small in scale, big on charm.
I built this as a tribute to the classic LEGO Castle sets that fueled my imagination as a kid. The recent release of the Lion Knights’ Castle brought those memories rushing back, and I wanted to contribute something playful and imaginative to that world. I’ve also been captivated by tensegrity builds, and combining that magical illusion with a medieval theme felt like the perfect way to merge childhood nostalgia with creative engineering. To add some extra charm, I included a few lighthearted details and playful nods throughout the build—fun little touches that bring personality and a smile.
The Tensegrity Gatekeepers' Tower brings a fresh twist to a beloved theme. It captures the storytelling and style of Castle builds while showcasing an eye-catching structure that seems to defy gravity. As a small display piece or a companion to set 10305, it invites curiosity and conversation—How is it floating? With its compact size, visual impact, and playful details, it’s an ideal candidate for a memorable GwP set.
Please note: the four chain elements (two long, two short) are not visible in the rendered images and animation because the chain elements are incorrectly modeled in BrickLinks' Studio and do not reflect their true length. However, I have built the tower in real life, and the tensegrity structure works exactly as intended.
