As a kid, my favorite toys were my bricks. I could spend hours building just about anything. Growing up during the original Star Wars trilogy, the Battlestar Galactica series, and Buck Rogers, building spaceships became my specialty. Fast forward to adulthood, when my 10-year-old asked me to build a ship, I couldn’t resist. Once I started, my childlike curiosity and imagination were reignited.
This is my first MOC build as an adult. It’s a fighter-class starship named The Starfire Interceptor, inspired by its sleek appearance and vibrant yellow accents.
I created this with everyone in mind. It’s a sturdy build for the little ones to play with, and for the older “kids,” there is a display stand to proudly showcase your creation.
On the Interceptor’s top deck, there are two small adjustable attack wings that can pivot up and down, and two plasma cannons on the port and starboard sides. The canopy opens to reveal the cockpit's details, including a pilot’s chair, readout display console, control stick, and cannon controls on either side. Behind the cockpit is the fusion engine assembly with a hatch that opens to reveal intricate details, including an onboard computer, coolant hoses, and the red cylindrical fusion reactor complete with a radioactive warning.
Towards the ship’s aft, there are two yellow adjustable stabilizing fins, oxygen intake hoses, and four thrusters. On the underside of the Interceptor are additional movable grey stabilizing fins, retractable landing gear, vertical lift and landing thrusters on the port and starboard sides, and a pulse cannon capable of rotating 360 degrees for full battle coverage. Besides the ship itself, I also built a personnel transport vehicle to safely transport the pilot to the ship.
Whether you enjoy engaging in brick builds to display or indulging your imagination in distant worlds and space battles, this is a great build for those who love sci-fi and the thought of piloting their own fighter-class starship. I’ve incorporated many fun details and movable parts that are sure to enhance your adventure as you fly off into the stars.
