Rocket Power - The Shore Shack

"Aloha little cuzzes. Ancient Hawaiian saying - always show your support for the shack!" - Tito

Ah, I look at it and I can taste it already; that sweet coastal pacific air, the sound of crashing waves, perfect sunny weather, and an insane itch to go be ultra active in it. Rocket Power, the classic Nickelodeon cartoon from 1999 through the early 2000's, always takes me back to having that fever of being a kid and wanting to do anything to be outside, enjoying myself in the most light-hearted, yet extreme way.

The Shore Shack is the staple of the Ocean Shores boardwalk, a place that encapsulates the vibes of the Santa Monica boardwalk, Venice Beach, and other prominent South California coastal cities. The local restaurant on the boardwalk that is the true centerpiece amongst the chaotic carousel of extreme sports that no episode is ever lacking. I created and built this set by hand to recreate that feeling I loved so much as a kid. I now have a little piece of that specific California coastal feeling for my display shelf of sets and I hope you can have that too in the future with this set idea, or perhaps whatever specific feeling you connected to as a kid watching this show. Even if you have never seen the show, this would be a fantastic set for anyone to build and add to their collection. Let me tell you why!

The Fine Design Details:

The details in this set are seriously as rad as the moves the kids hit on the pipe y'all. If you take a look inside the dining area and the kitchen, I promise every detail is nailed to one of the highest degrees you could with your pieces. Everything from the wall decor, to the surf board above the bar with the tiki head, to the tv, phone, and cash register. The paintings and signage on the building were one lengthy journey of building to get them woven into the facade relatively clean. Particularly the letters on the front, but without that signature lettering the shack does not hit with the same impact at first glance. This set would suit anyone that loves an interesting, technical build when constructing a set. Having so many hidden areas within, I was sure to create some access points to those as well. Therefore, as you can see in the pictures, the back wall opens directly up to the kitchen without issue, the side second floor wall opens up (accessed by flipping the roof open), and the windows on the upper front facade actually open cleanly all the way into the second floor level as well. Plenty to fulfill a kid who wants to play with their imagination and plenty to work the set into the way you want to display it with the potential mini-figures.

The mini-figures:

I did my best to recreate the four main characters - Otto and Reggie Rocket, Twister Rodriguez (with a tape and video-camera), and the Squid of course! (Sam Dullard) I did not have the right pieces to make them ("BUST!!" -Otto Rocket), but this set definitely would deserve a Tito and Raymundo in my opinion. Certainly this beckons some extreme sports accessories too, whether that be hockey pieces or boards to ride. I must say though, as much as I love mini-figures, I think the shack really speaks for itself and any mini-figures are a super sweet bonus on top.

Closing Note:

I would be absolutely ecstatic to see this as a purchasable set one day! I have loved Rocket Power dearly for a long time ever since I was a kid first catching that inspiration to never miss an opportunity to get active outside or fearlessly jump into a fun, super competitive game with friends. I hope you have that same feeling I get when you see the Shore Shack or that you can see how cool of a set this could be for someone to build. I know adults will thoroughly enjoy this build and the reminiscing, while kids will have a incredible time playing with this one. If any of that resonates, please support this submission and lets make it happen!
