Help your fellow builder by leaving your feedback based on these three criteria:
- Originality: How original is this - never seen before?
- Building Techniques: How much skill do you think the creator of this MOC has, in terms of building technique?
- Details: Express how much you like the details of the build.
Your feedback is only shown to the creator as well as yourself. It is not available for other users to see. The creator won't see your user name.
A while ago I entered a competition on a Facebook group which challenged us to build anything we wanted from Lego (anything!) and these 2 gents were my submission.
As a fan of the Muppets all my life Waldorf and Statler (or Statler and Waldorf) were always 2 of my favourite characters, with their cheeky heckles from their box making me laugh as a child and those same comments making me smile just as much now as I grow in to a cantankerous old man myself.
So with that in mind, and the smiles they brought as I imagined them sat on my shelf watching and criticising my builds, I decided to build Waldorf and Statler in their box.
It was a great fun challenge and I'm pleased to say I even won the competition! It seemed everyone loved these guys as much as me and I got lots of great and positive feedback, which leads us to now and this submission.
Following the release of the awesome Muppets Mini Figures range I thought this Idea could make a great complementary set, although in my opinion it would be equally as strong as a standalone set (of course I would), allowing every builder the opportunity to have their own viewing gallery watching on as they build or go about their lives.
I personally really enjoy building characters in Lego, trying to find the right pieces to get a good likeness of the figure while trying to capture their character, and I think this build has succeeded in capturing the essence of both gentlemen well, incorporating all of their unique and recognisable features.
I am also really pleased that both of the figures are fully articulated allowing them to be posed in many ways - there is movement in the arms, elbow, wrist, neck, mouth and even the ears. The gentlemen can also be placed into their theatre box and rotated on a turntable which is built in to their 'pedestal' so giving them another range of movement and letting you pose the figures in 100's of different ways.
As you can hopefully see from the pictures each character can also be removed individually to be played with and enjoyed or placed inside the theatre box setting for display.
This build has really been enjoyable for me to develop and helped me find new ways of bringing movement in to my builds. I believe this would be a great set for those who love the Muppets and (if that doesn't capture most people) those interested in looking at techniques for building characters, faces and making articulated figures.
Many thanks for taking the time to look at this submission and I hope you, like Waldorf, might say "You know what, this ain't half bad!" and give it a vote...
...although we of course will then hear Statler in the background adding "yeah, it's all bad!"
"Ha Ha Ha Ha!"
