Nocturne Along the River

The Bund is the riverfront landmark of Shanghai. Buildings in this historic district are heavily influenced by European architectural styles. At night, warm lights illuminate the building facades, creating a visual icon of the city.

While a close-up view is popular, seeing the Bund from a different perspective can be equally captivating. The quiet promenade on the east bank, across the river, offers a panoramic view of the Bund from a distance. As you stroll along, the golden buildings appear one by one, like highlights on a vast dark canvas or notes in a nocturne.

One recent evening, after visiting a nearby museum, I took a short walk along that promenade and noticed a lady resting alone against the fence. She was gazing at the HSBC building, one of the most renowned landmarks across the river. Her light green skirt complemented the fence nicely, just as the rippling water enhanced the golden architecture.

I cherish that moment - the view, the colors and the composition. Now, I’m sharing it with you through this LEGO framed artwork. LEGO’s vibrant yellow and orange colors capture the warm illumination effectively. 1x1 slope pieces are largely used to depict river water, adding beautiful shadows and reflections.
