Perhaps nowhere else across the millennia has captured the world's imagination from Plato all the way to old Milo Thatch than that once great and thriving City of Atlantis. It is here in Disney's 2001 that Milo Thatch and a ragtag bunch of explorers journey deep under the surface of the earth and sea to discover this fabled land. Much to their surprise, they discover living there a dying civilization.
This Lego set takes place after the main events of the movie once the glowing Heart of Atlantis and advanced technology have been restored to the city, and the giant Stone Guardians saved everyone from a devastating volcano. Displayed is the entire City of Atlantis as it seemingly floats atop a huge waterfall and protected by a series of Stone Guardians. In the center is the massive citadel dominating the city, above which floats the Heart of Atlantis. Included also is two of the city's flying stone fishes, a Martag and a Ketak. These two vehicles are fully poseable. They are being piloted by the set's two included minifigures, Milo Thatch with his Shephard's Journal, and Princess Kida Nedakh. It would be great to potentially see some other minifigures included such as Sweet, Mole, Vinny, Audrey, Helga, Rourke, Mr. Whitmore, and the King.
Ever since this animated Disney classic came out in 2001, it has been one of my favorites, a perfect mixture of action, adventure, romance, and wit. It would be great to finally get to see a Lego set from this property, especially with the rumors of an upcoming live-action remake. I could think of few better locations to be displayed in Lego form than the iconic city at the heart of it all.
