Here is my geodesic dome - it comprises 65 'rods' and 26 connectors (which are Lego steering wheels). The geodesic dome design is made from 6 pentagon shapes which are connected together with an additional 5 rods. The rods are either short (made from 3 rounds) or long (made from 4 rounds).
I have been interested in geodesic domes for ages and wanted to construct one out of Lego. Following on from my obsession with DNA double helix, I wanted to create something different using similar methods.
This is quite a challenge project to construct. There is a great satisfaction when it finally comes together. Its an attractive geometrical form. It could be used as part of a larger project, eg a building structure on Mars, a glamping tent, or a greenhouse.
