Lego Grand Piano and Piano Bench NSOT and LDD Graphics
Thanks to all for the encouragement to produce a version with Studs Not On Top (SNOT). This is the same model that I photographed with only the addition of the tiles on the top surfaces.
The Grand Piano and Piano Bench....
... with the top of the piano an bench open...
... a little closer and a different perspective....
The piano bench is sized and has an access hole to accommodate a commercially available wind-up music box (not shown). The model is fun; the model with piano music playing from the closed piano bench is even better.
... and a third perspective of the open piano...
... and a final view of the closed piano and piano bench from a different perspective...
"Building" the model in LDD allowed making the following motion video available on YouTube. I'm almost as pleased with the video and story as I was with my original Lego design.
(also accessible through a YouTube search for "Lego Model Grand Piano & Bench Movie".) Enjoy!
cheers,
Jim
PS: Learning Lego Digital Designer was a greater challenge than designing the model in the first place. But I enjoy the results and I agree with all who indicated a SNOT model could be a significant enhancement.
YouTube Video...
... please see
for a video of the Grand Piano with different perspectives. I will replace some of the pictures on this site if I can figure out how to remove a couple and add a couple used in making the video. You may note in the video I have covered the top studs with tiles to make a smoother looking model. Building this in LDD and then making this video took almost as long as designing and making the original model... and almost as fun:)cheers,
Jim
