Lustron House

In the 1950s, during the baby boom and directly after World War II, there was a need for housing in the United States for the returning soldiers and their families. The solution? Lustron houses. These simple houses were made by slotting prefabricated tiles into a metal frame, and could be built in about a day. Although they are no longer as common, there are still Lustrons dotting the states, particularly in the Midwest. You may even find these historic Lustron homes in museums!

This Lego model (which, oddly, took me longer to make then it took to make actual Lustrons) is complete with the classic 1950's family: One businessman father, one wife always happy to see him coming home, one boy, and one girl. It also includes accessories like a lawnmower, flowers, cat, and dog.
