This lego set is of the inside of an archaeological site in Belize called Actun Tunichil Muknal cave. Actun Tunichil Muknal Cave is located in the Cayo district of Belize which toursists can go see in person. However, this site has seen damage due to the many tourists who experience Actun Tunichil Muknal.
When creating this site, I incorporated elements from within the cave. This includes the crystal maiden, transverse dams (dams that are made up of hard sediment that hold back soft sediment), and some of the rock formations.
The reason for creating this project was to do archaelogical public outreach for a school course. I chose a lego set so that people who are limited in access to these sites and those who are interested in archaeology are now able experience such a beautiful site. By having an archaeological site that anyone can play with and explore, interest, knowledge, and desire to protect these sites will increase.
If you wish to build this set, even if it does not succeed, please contact me. I am willing to share.
