Here is my take on a realistic LEGO chess set to hopefully some day become the next LEGO Ideas set.
All pieces are very solid and scaled accurately. The knight was by far the hardest to digitally design. The first few iterations came out looking more like goats, camels and dragons. Once I settled on the knight design and completed the project I couldn't resist acquiring all the pieces and seeing it built in real life. Hopefully some day you can too if this project becomes the next LEGO Ideas set.
It is as much to fun to build and display as it is to actually play. The top of the chess board is built in removable sections for storing the fully intact chess pieces inside. At just over 2,000 pieces it also features extra queens and checkers as an alternative game.
