This caterpillar tipper catched my eye lately. I immediately had an idea to develop a technic Lego model for it.
For me functionality and playable was my main goal. Besides that I wanted to develop an affordable model that is why I kept it small. Despite the size I wanted to have it a tipper. It took me several rounds to get the mechanical part working. Now the tipper works smoothly with a worm wheel.
From examples in real live I saw that the cabin of these vehicles is relatively big and the engine area small again.
Currently I am working on the B-model and how I could reduce the part count. For me the amount of around 400 pieces is a bit to much.
Altogether this is a very playable model and fits in the model line for smaller sets.
