Tales of Chicago - Four Stars

Chicago has an iconic flag!

Its design is a succinct summary of the city’s proud legacy, with white and blue bands representing the land and accompanying waterways, and with four red stars that symbolize four impactful historical events.

“Tales of Chicago” seeks to personify those stars, turning them into interconnectible 3D postcards that vibrantly capture their significance and meaning.

The first star represents Fort Dearborn, the United States’ first permanent military outpost at the mouth of the Chicago River.

The second postcard prominently features the Water Tower, the massive stonework building that survived the Great Chicago Fire of 1871 – the subject of the flag’s second star.

The third star pays homage to the World’s Columbian Exposition, a revolutionary fair in 1893 that introduced the world to the Ferris Wheel, the zipper, and many more modern inventions.

The fourth star remembers 1933’s Century of Progress, a world’s fair that not only commemorated 100 years of Chicago’s incorporation as a town, but also looked forwards to the future of architecture and industrial design.

The perfect display piece for your desk or wall, “Tales of Chicago” needs your support to reach 10,000 votes.

Thank you very much!
