What it is
Inspired by the beaches of the Australian East Coast, this relaxing coffee table display features:
- a vase of native East Australian flowers, including the iconic red waratah, the brush-shaped orange banksia, the fluffy yellow craspedia and a pink gum blossom
- a bevelled and inlaid trinket box handmade from the East Australian hardwoods of silver ash and acacia blackwood, locked with a gold tasselled key - perfect for storing your watch or jewellery!
- a mated pair of Eastern Rosellas (an Australian parrot known for its red head with white cheeks, scalloped yellow and black shoulder and back feathers, coloured front, blue wings, and a green and blue tail)
- a stoppered glass bottle filled with tiny seashells and dried sea urchin shells collected from Australia’s famous East Coast beaches (think Byron, Bondi and Manly)
- a decorated copper lantern containing scented melaleuca candles
- a wicker display tray adorned with dried eucalyptus nuts and leaves
- two gilded coffee table books
Why I built it
Reflecting my love for home decor, native flora and fauna, and the relaxing natural beauty of beach landscapes, this set is something I would love to own in my own home while also sharing what I'm passionate about. I hope it will reach supporters who also share the same passion.
Why I think it would make a great set
Featuring a wide variety of pieces and building techniques, this set is a fun building experience that leads to a beautiful display that also provides you with a safe place to store your watch, jewellery or treasures in a useful trinket box each day.
