This project is a continuation of my City Billboards collection, which are standardized billboards depicting classic LEGO themes. So if you're familiar with my Classic Space and Technic boards, you'll notice they have an identical frame and the same dimensions. Billboards are a great way to add unique flair and personality to any LEGO city or diorama.
The Classic Fire board is based primarily off of the use of the 1x1 quarter round tiles to depict the flames on the logo. It's a great addition to the collection because it adds some bright colors to the mix.
The Octan board has a much more complex design. I got the idea to build it after noticing the Octan billboards in the (first) LEGO movie. With this one, I wanted to include as much detail as possible, and I was just able to squeeze the logo, name, and boarder onto the 8x17 studs board. From the attached Studio files, you can see that there are no illegal connections or stressing of the elements.
So far, I'm really enjoying creating these billboards, so keep an eye out for more designs, and feel free to make suggestions in the comments!
