Truncated Icosahedron (Soccer Ball)

List of parts needed for the build

Depending on how you count the parts (which I will explain in a moment), there are either 540 or 480 parts.

To build it, you need:

60 - Rocker Bearing 1x2 (part 3937) in black (element 393726)
120 - Rocker Bearing 1x2 (part 3937) in white (element 393701)
60 - Plate 1x2 (Rocking) (part 3938) in black (element 393826)
120 - Plate 1x2 (Rocking) (part 3938) in white (element 393801)
60 - Plate 1x2 (part 3023) in white (element 302301)
60 - Hinge Plate 1x2 (part 19954) in black (element 6102782)
60 - Hinge Plate 1x2 (part 19954) in white (element 6102776)

But you only end up using half of the hinge plates -- you detach them and then reassemble them into black & white pairs. Half of them will have the "top" hinge in white and the "bottom" hinge in black, and half the reverse. The model only needs one of the two types (it doesn't matter which, as long as they are all the same).

Those extra pieces could be used to make a second model, though. So, if you're only making one kit, you'd need 540 parts, but if you wanted to make 2, you'd only need 960 parts altogether -- 480 for each!
