Help your fellow builder by leaving your feedback based on these three criteria:
- Originality: How original is this - never seen before?
- Building Techniques: How much skill do you think the creator of this MOC has, in terms of building technique?
- Details: Express how much you like the details of the build.
Your feedback is only shown to the creator as well as yourself. It is not available for other users to see. The creator won't see your user name.
About the probe
Based upon the ESA and NASA probe, Ulysses is here to monitor our solar neighbor, the Sun! Beginning operations in 1990, the Ulysses Space probes mission gave us insight on the magnetic fields of the Sun. The probe's exciting mission lasted a little over 18 years, giving us discoveries such as the magnetic field switching, weakening solar wind activity, and many more which have helped us to paint a much larger picture of our stellar body!
About the set
This set has been a project of mine since Lego released the very, very limited VIP set. Instead of being upset that I was not lucky enough to get the set, I took it upon myself to build my own version of this extraordinary technical marvel!
The build features the Ulysses probe, the Internal Upper Stage, and a base that matches the base used for the Discovery Space Shuttle set. I learned a lot of different techniques during this build that I think could benefit any level of Lego fan! The hardest part was figuring out how to keep everything together in a very solid structure but also allow the different sections to separate in a way that I think you will be quite pleased with! If the set were to become a reality, I would want to work with the Lego designers in making another probe to accompany Ulysses, such as the Galileo space probe!
