Kingfisher (Alcedo atthis)

This "blue arrow" is among my favorite birds. 

Its main features are: (For my project and the bird.)

-a livery bright and very colorful (blue on the top, red and white below),
-a long, thin bill
-a short and stocky body,
-an approximate size of 16 cm and a weight, also approximate, of 40 g.

Its sparkling blue comes from the prismatic reflections of light on the tiny structures of its feathers.

This species is threatened by man from the destruction of wetlands and pollution of surface waters. That why I decided to build and share it with you. 

I built it a bit like a brickheadz. Especially for the head and the wings. It was rather easy to build. I also wanted to represent a wooden perch from which this bird likes to observe the surface of the water to watch the fish.
