The Budweiser rocket was a rocket-powered land speed record car built in 1979 with the sole purpose to be the first car to break the sound barrier. Since the car was not raced in compliance with the offical speed record rules its speed record ( mach 1.01) never made it into the books, and many doubt it broke the barrier at all.
Regardless of what really happened, the car was extremely fast and very interesting, it was basically a rocket with three wheels and a seat for an extremely brave pilot- reason enough to build a model!
