Legendary Creatures

Mythology is something that is absolutely amazing, a true testament to storytelling and creativity, but one of the most creative parts of these stories is the awe-inspiring creatures that are a part of them.

I have recreated three of the most iconic (and legendary!) creatures that appear in myth from around the world.

A ferocious beast of the sea, The Kraken resembles a giant octopus that is infamous for turning ships into ship wrecks. This creature has appeared in Norwegian stories since the 1700s, most likely deriving from the very real, giant squid.

The Unicorn is a mysterious but majestic creature that has captivated many different cultures for ages. It is one of the most iconic mythical creatures and perhaps one of the oldest, as a one horned horse has appeared on tablets found in ancient Mesopotamia.

Born from the ashes to rise again, the immortal flaming bird known as the Phoenix is certainly the most magical of the three creatures, having many different abilities across its many stories. The origin of the Phoenix is in both Greek and Egyptian mythology, often associated with the sun.

Each of the three creatures has a base to stand on which depicts a small piece of terrain.

As these legendary creatures are hundreds if not thousands of years old, it was hard to pick a single depiction to go with. So these are more of my own representations of each creature.
