This concept is a reimagined version of two beloved pirate-themed sets from the 1990s:
the 6254 ‘Treasure Island’ and the 6258 ‘Smuggler’s Shanty’.

As a child, these two sets held a very special place in my heart. Sadly, I only owned the ‘Treasure Island’ set, but its wonderfully simple design allowed me to fashion something simmilar to the Shanty building using pieces from my other sets.

In this new concept, I’ve adopted the colour palette and building techniques seen in the more recently released pirate-themed sets - the 21322 ‘Pirates of Barracuda Bay’ and the 10320 ‘Eldorado Fortress’.
Thanks to the modular design inspired by the fortress, the two islands can either be connected to form a larger scene or kept separate. When combined, the end pieces can be used to create a simple reef. The palm trees are built in the exact same style as those can be found in the ‘Pirates of Barracuda Bay’ set, while the sliding rock face draws inspiration from the cannon slide mechanism in the 6280 ‘Armada Flagship’.
Any of these small details can evoke nostalgic feelings in true fans of Pirate-themed sets.
I’ve kept this new iteration of the Treasure Island as faithful to the original as possible, whilst introducing smoother edges, more intricate detailing, and a colour scheme that better aligns with the newer pirate sets.

The original Shanty didn’t have a whole or island or surrounding trees, but my version’s characteristic palm-leaf roof makes it instantly recognisable.

As for the minifigures, I also tried to update them to reflect the modern Lego style whilst staying true to the characters from the 6258 ‘Smuggler’s Shanty’.
