"Dave, I want you to know that I still have the highest enthusiasm for the mission".
Microscale Discovery One, the iconic starship (from the 1968 movie "2001: A Space Odyssey") with display stand. I wanted to capture the elegant nature of the design in a style similar to the Lego Architecture range. It is 28 centimeters long and features a rotatable communications dish.
The construction is quite simple with lightsaber rods reinforcing the spine, however I have included a few SNOT techniques to stay true to the shape of the vessel and to make the build experience more interesting. The only part that will require printing is the 2x2 dome piece, with markings to suggest the bridge observation window and the pod bay doors.
This is a lovely model to display and will appeal to the science fiction enthusiast, movie buffs and Lego collectors alike.
