As an interior designer, I believe that the windmill house is one of the best sustainable buildings in architecture and use of renewable energy. It has a very long history and plays an important role in European societies in countries like Denmark, Holland, Portugal, etc. It offers very clean energy by harnessing the power of the wind. The windmill residential house model is designed with approximately 2,998 LEGO bricks for celebrating "National Windmill Day" (on the second Saturday of May every year). It falls on May 11, 2024.

The building’s form is a well-known, characteristic, and strong element of traditional architecture that is inspired by the windmill of Kastellet in Copenhagen, Denmark. The building aims to combine a modern lifestyle with new functional residences. The old windmill gets a new life and modern look. At the same time, it still retains its original expression and form. I would like to revive its historic structure and try to create innovative living spaces. The challenge was how to use the same technique to create the right form of the windmill to resemble the real building and the floor plan layout. The building's finish is a combination of old and new, historical and modern elements. Vertical windows and glass are used in the upper parts of the building. The layout of the windows creates an impression of unity with the repeating rhythm of the facade panels. All facade panels can be opened and provide wonderful interior visibility.
Based on my design, it contains three levels and has a nice interior design layout.
  • Level 1, I have a living room, a dining area, a kitchen, and a bathroom. I like the fireplace, sofa, and coffee table as well as some simple decorations I did. I designed the modern bathroom clean and bright. The small dining table can be folded and has a modern "I-shaped" kitchen.
  • Level 2, it's the sleeping and studying areas with a modern look and fancy furniture design.
  • Level 3, it's the play and creative area.
I also have two big trees placed around the building and a very cool mini cooper car. It shows a couple having a picnic party with so much food and nice music as well as beautiful nature.
My favorite part of this model is the power of the windmill. I like how I designed the control which can rotate the windmill and change the directions. It's a very interesting design. I would say that this would make a great LEGO set because I believe that this model is a wonderful heritage with a very long history and a nice gift for sustainable architecture and energy, as well as for people who love windmill houses. My final purpose is to show people what the windmill house is. I love a windmill house. I've always dreamed that I could live in a windmill house and enjoy beautiful nature. Hope you like my idea.
