Is she a mech? A robot? An angel? your guess is as good as mine. This Lady-like mecha came straight from my heart and imagination, based on some of my wildest dreams, so I'm gonna share her with the world! It's easy to build lego mecha toys for guys, but what about the ladies? Perhaps there aren't many girls into mecha stuff, but even so, what about those little sisters and girlfriends out there who wanna play too? Or the avid gamer girls who like displaying cool mecha just as much as any other fan would?
To the sisters; What fun is it when you ask to join your brother's lego robot battle, and get stuck using an awkward half-built guy-ish mech? Or worse, when you have to watch helplessly on the sidelines watching the awesomest fun-looking battle you've ever seen? To the girlfriends try'in ta impress their guys; Wouldn't it be cool if you built something to impress his mecha-crazy side while at the same time shows a piece of you? (It's Lego, I'm hoping you add your own personal touch too). To the avid gamers... I'm sure you've seen better, but this is a 100% unique design so at least if ya had it, you'd have a one-of-a-kind model to show off.
Usually when girl-type mecha are made, they seem more based for guys to enjoy looking at rather than for girls to enjoy using. I wanted to create a mecha more practical from a lady's perspective. Sure, I'm not a girl, but that just made it more challenging for my imagination to try and see things from their point of view. What kinda mech would my girlfriend or my sister use? What equipment would she put on it? What kinda weapon would she battle with? Would she still wear a dress? Understanding others is a great way to for relationships to grow. My hope is that this mech might help girls who feel left out or who struggle to fit in feel more included and free their imaginations... I know that dream is a bit far fetched, I can't help it though, I'm a hopeless dreamer. Lego want's to increase the bonds of friendship in families and friends too, so I think this is perfect to that end!
While A.M.Y. doesn't boast nearly as many functional features as my other mech builds, she still has plenty to offer; Her shoulder pads open into missile packs for mid-range targets and her claw gauntlets make her an intimidating opponent in close-quarters combat, A.K.A. sissy-fighting. Leg joints are built to be flexible but sturdy, making for stable posing and fun play. There is an update to her shoulder hinges coming soon, should A.M.Y. get enough supporters. Head rotates up, down, and around and has opening face-shield. Wings fold in, out, and all about really. A.M.Y.'s dress hinges with her movements, allowing her to maintain a sense of modesty about her appearance, after all, she is a lady and there are kids watching this stuff. ;-)
A.M.Y. : Armored Mecha "Y". Why the "Y"? "Y" not?! I don't want anyone to get the wrong idea so I guess i'll spill the beans as to what inspired this build most of all. It's kinda emberassing really, but I was daydreaming like usual and got caught up imagining the kind of lady I'd like to meet someday. I continued onward thinking what if she wanted me to make her a mecha and what would it look like? I decided to name the mech one of my favorite girl names too, Amy, (I feel soooooo awkward right now). Well, there you have it I rekon, a confessedly a love-struck master-builder.
