It's a Hand Puppet... in LEGO.
The puppet is able to be articulated with the mouth joint, into which people can fit their hands and do the puppet thing. There is also arm artuculation, controlled through rods.
This particular version is made to be a fun little red monster, although I can see the design changing wildly from my original proposal if successful.
