This icon was designed by Evert Endt from the design agency of designer Raymond Loewy. The first prototype was completed in 1976, shortly afterwards the first trains entered service from 1977. The majority of the trains built between 1983 and 1994 still run daily on the Dutch railways in 2024. (The walk-through head turned out to be prone to failure and was removed during the modernization of 137 of the 144 train sets in the years 2005-2011.) The overhauled (ICMm's), together with the VIRM and the DDZ, form the most important equipment for the connections between the major cities and the rest of the country. Unfortunately, NS plans to remove all ICM(m)'s from the Dutch rail network by 2030. After this it is planned to replace them all with the latest model. This model was built to keep these railway icons alive.
This train would look good in any Lego city. The iconic design and color scheme really stand out.
I am a 14 year old dutch train/lego fan, i made this model for fun.
