Rectoría UNAM Building

The set depicts one of the most beautiful and iconic buildings in Mexico City: the Rectoría building of the University City of UNAM. This building is a masterpiece of the modern movement, designed by architects Mario Pani, Enrique del Moral, and Salvador Ortega. The edification is complemented by three murals by the Mexican painter David Alfaro Siqueiros. These were painted in the context of the construction of the spectacular University City of UNAM, which boasts an amazing modernist design. That is why it was not possible for Mexico, the birthplace of modern muralism, to lack murals in University City. The edifice is undoubtedly one of the main features within the university campus, recognized for its aesthetic and functional qualities. Additionally, due to its status as an emblematic building, it has been declared a human heritage site.
The building has been always for me very interesting due to its volumetric composition and the way that were integrated to the architecture pieces of mexican muralism. Also I like for a while the idea that some day could become a set of Lego Architecture.
The set perfectly captures the beautiful volumetry of the building, as well as its intricate details. I strongly believe that the set could seamlessly fit within the Lego Architecture line.
