Gemini 3 Capsule

I’m happy to present my Lego version of the Gemini spacecraft!

 

The model consists of the Gemini crew capsule (reentry module),retro module and the equipment module. All three parts of the model can be separated. The capsule fits 2 minifigures and has an detailed interior. The retro module has 6 navigation thrusters and the equipment module has another 8 thrusters.

 

Some information about the model:

- 2 chrome astronaut minifigures (Gus Grissom and John Young)

- has 522 Bricks

- is 23,7  cm long

- is 11,5  cm wide

- has 9 prints

 

About the minifigures

I wanted to recreate the Gemini 3 mission with this model, so I included John Young and Gus Grissom in this set. Grissom was also heavily involved in the design process of the Gemini spacecraft, so it’s a tribute to him. The Gemini mission is also memorable because of the funny „corned beef sandwich accident“.

 

Why did I build it?

 

I am a big Nasa and space fan and I love Lego’s  Nasa sets. There’s something that Lego hasn’t done before, but there are for sure many fans that would like it: A project Gemini Lego set. So the idea of this model was born.
