Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory

Hold your breath. Make a wish. Count to three.

"Come with me, and you'll be in a world of Pure Imagination... "

Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory is a film quite unlike any other. Released in 1971 and starring the impeccable Gene Wilder, it is a wonderful, timeless fantasy that has charmed and captivated children and adults alike for generations. It's delightful, it's intriguing, it's uniquely quick-witted, it's splendiferous, and, most importantly of all, it embodies the spirit and beauty of imagination in a way that very few stories do. With that in mind, what better medium is there to continue on that spirit than the endlessly creative world of LEGO?

Willy Wonka and LEGO have always been two huge parts of my life. Some of my earliest memories are of watching the movie on VHS with my sister, and I've always held the song Pure Imagination as a personal theme song of sorts. Likewise, I've had a special interest in LEGO since I was very young, and ever since I was a kid I have always dreamed of seeing the two combined. The set that you see here is the culmination of that dream, and with your help it can be fully realized as an official LEGO set!

This model, as proposed, is built from exactly 1475 LEGO elements, and includes:

  • Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory, which is made up of two modules: The Grand Entrance and the Chocolate Room building.

  • The Grand Entrance exterior, featuring a "WONKA" sign and printed windows, as well as a side addition featuring Wonka's piano lock!

  • Past the double doors, the Grand Entrance interior includes Wonka's contract, an elegant quill pen, and some "weird-looking coat hangers", which can be puppeteered from the rear!

  • The Chocolate Room exterior, featuring a film-accurate facade, a glass-paneled roof, two smokestacks at the side, and a mini Great Glass Wonkavator soaring through the sky!

  • Inside, the Chocolate Room features many screen-accurate candies and details, including Wonka's candy teacups, a giant gummy bear, candy mushrooms, lollipops, and much, much more, alongside the famous (and delicious) Chocolate River! It's a truly magical wonderland of Pure Imagination - until you look into the tunnel, then you're in for a fright!

  • The Chocolate Room also features a work area for the Oompa Loompa to mix chocolate cream into the Chocolate River, as well as the magnificent Chocolate Waterfall which will actually flow downward when you turn a crank at the back!

  • Also included is a large pipe which attaches at the side, which naughty children can get stuck in when they're a little too greedy...

  • The Factory's grandiose front gate, complete with red carpet, a sticking spot for Mr. Wonka's cane, a stack of newspapers, a hidden coin, and fully brick-built wrought iron "WONKA" lettering!

  • A buildable life-sized Wonka Golden Ticket, featuring 49 drum-lacquered metallic gold LEGO elements and complete with a stylish black collector's stand!

  • Eight new and exclusive LEGO minifigures, including Mr. Willy Wonka, Charlie Bucket, Grandpa Joe, Violet Beauregarde, Mike Teavee, Veruca Salt, Augustus Gloop, and an Oompa Loompa, plus a brickbuilt figure of Blueberry Violet!

  • A detachable pallet with a full case of sweets, including six Wonka Bars, Scrumdiddlyumptious Bars, Everlasting Gobstoppers, a Wonka Fudge Mallow, golden chocolate eggs, and more!

  • Additional minifigure accessories of five Wonka Golden Tickets, plus a toy revolver and cowboy hat for Mike and a cane and swappable hat- and hair-pieces for Mr. Wonka!

I originally submitted this project back in February of 2022, but unfortunately it timed out a couple of months ago. Now it's back, and with several of the upgrades I added to the original submission through the "Updates" tab. I hope you'll enjoy it. I think you will.
