Pirate Dock

Hello everybody! I’m glad to submit this new project featuring a resting place for pirates in a small island.

I have spent a lot of enjoyable hours creating this project with Studio, and several more rendering the different views and working with the details. The main features are set forth below.

Main features

The model comprises the following parts: a beach, a breakwater, the captain’s tavern (including an exterior staircase), a fortified house, a market, and the main street. It further comprises eight minifigures (including a hidden skeleton), a parrot, a monkey, a seagull, and many other fishes and crabs.

Beach

The island is so small that the beach almost invades the main street. Its fine sand hides many valuable objects accidentally fallen from treasures dragged through the beach. A pier crosses the beach from the main street to the sea, allowing the boats to unload their goods.

A man digging near the pier has been lucky to find some gold coins.

Breakwater

Next to the beach there is a breakwater built with large rocks. Probably the best place for fishing in the entire island. A young girl has just caught a big fish.

The rocks hide a cave where a pirate’s skeleton peacefully rests with his treasure. The cave has a removable gate made with rocks.

Captain’s tavern

This place was once the tavern of the town. Now it is where the pirates’ captain lives and where his crew spend most of their time.

The building is made with a wooden structure and clay walls. It rests on stone foundations, as the soil near the beach is very unsteady.

The ground floor is the pirate’s dining room. The floor is made with wooden planks. During the day, the windows allow the sunlight to illuminate the room. At night, the light is provided with several candles hung from the walls. Two pirates are currently enjoying a meal while animatedly talking.

The first floor lodges the captain’s bedroom and a balcony. The access to this floor is provided through an exterior staircase made with stones and pebbles, which is located just behind the tavern. The captain is on the balcony controlling the island.

Fortified House

Next to the captain’s tavern is located the fortified house. This building is mainly built with masonry. It has many windows and doors made of wood, and a roof of clay tiles. There is a passage that goes through the building, communicating the main street with the market.

The ground floor is divided in two chambers separated by the passage, wherein each one of them has its own entrance. A double-sheet large wooden door provides access to the first chamber from the main street. This chamber keeps part of the pirates’ treasure, which rests under the wooden staircase leading to the first floor. Another wooden door provides access to the second chamber from the market. This chamber is a store with plenty of useful stuff.

The first floor has a bedroom and a fortified terrace with a cannon. A pirate currently stands on the terrace with a spyglass for spotting boats in the horizon.

Market

Not so far from the beach there is a market, wherein the pirates and the inhabitants of the town can buy a great variety of food and stuff. Fruits, crabs, and fishes are within the typical menu of all of them. The store’s owner is the person in charge of the market. A palm tree provides shelter and shadow to the buyers.

Main street

The main street is made of stone tiles and pebbles. It communicates the front side of the buildings with the beach, the pier and the breakwater. It goes from the exterior staircase behind the captain’s tavern to the market, further crossing the passage of the fortified house.

Modularity & Playability

This set has been designed to maximise the playability. The buildings are fully modular to allow the access to any inner corner or piece of the same. Each part of the set has been designed to be built separately from the others, and afterwards to be all of them assembled like a puzzle. Thus, this model has not a common support base wherein all the parts are attached. So, players can easily configure their set to include other parts of their own creation, or simply take some of the parts to play with them separately or incorporate them in other sets.
