This is the car that was raced by Craig Lowndes and Jamie Whincup in the 2019 Bathurst 1000, the holy grail of Australian Motorsport. It featured a special retro livery, which was a throwback to the 1971 HDT Torana's raced by Peter Brock and Colin Bond. The livery was for the recognition of 50 years of factory involvement in Australian Motorsport. The ZB Commodore is the last line of this legendary car which began in the early 80s. The car is Speed Champions 8-wide scale and features a minifigure of Craig Lowndes.
I built this as I like the Commodore and it deserves a tribute. I have been building many cars across a couple of digital designing platforms and I decided that I really wanted to build this one. It was not too difficult to build and looks amazing when it is built. It is pictured to be on the track which it races on and looks just as good on any shelf.
LEGO has not had an Australian car yet added to its Speed champions range and this car is a great example of Australian Motorsport. It is a truly great car and should be made into a great LEGO set.
