The Idea

"Within there rise the roofs of houses; and in the midst, set upon a green terrace, there stands aloft a great hall of Men. And it seems to my eyes that it is thatched with gold. The light of it shines far over the land. Golden, too, are the posts of its doors." - Legolas

The Golden Hall of Edoras always was one of my favourite buildings in the whole Lord of the Rings Trilogy! The simple but majestic norse architecture of the Golden Hall perfectly captures the essence of Rohan: Not white and brightly polished like the city of Minas Tirith but smaller and simpler whilst still expressing the noble spirit of the proud Rohan horse lords!

The Golden Hall

During the process of designing this build i wanted to make sure that it works both as a display model and a play set. Therefore it was necessary to design it in a way that allows easy access to its interior whilst looking perfectly displayable when fully put together.

To achieve this goal the build consists of 3 parts which can be easily taken apart but do not show any cracks or openings when combined. The middle roof section and the front can be taken off. Either at the same time or separately which allows different varieties of openess/closedness.
