Ladies and gentlemen, prepare to be amazed as we venture into the heart of untamed wilderness to witness the legendary King Kong: The Eighth Wonder of the World! From the mysterious Skull Island, hails this larger-than-life creature whose towering presence resonates with our fascination for colossal beings, forever immortalizing him as an iconic figure, blending myth, emotion, and the eternal desire to explore beyond the ordinary.

A cinematic masterpiece and a timeless enigma, King Kong was introduced to moviegoers ninety years ago in the classic film King Kong (1933). Since the introduction of the iconic beast of cinema, King Kong has stolen hearts with his relatable tale of a misunderstood animal taken away from his home to New York City. Further immortalized in countless films, books, comics, plays, video games, and other mediums, this recognizable movie monster is known to young and old alike.

This project sets to capture the essence of King Kong’s story, comprised of nearly 2,100 pieces and consists of four minifigures:

  • Ann Darrow, the actress of whom Kong’s fascination leads him on his rampage
  • Carl Denham, the director who wishes to bring Kong’s image to the world
  • Jack Driscoll, another protagonist embroiled in the action surrounding King Kong
  • Captain Englehorn, the boat captain who first brought the others to Skull Island

In addition to the minifigures, the build includes a film camera for Denham to capture footage of the beast. Two planes that bring Kong to his fate also accompany the fully posable King Kong figure. Many iterations of Kong exist and this build is not based on any in particular, so the minifigures are not meant to represent any specific actor. King Kong’s image is instantly recognizable. It is a story as old as time and this was a project years in the making that sets out to represent King Kong’s legacy in LEGO form.

“It wasn’t the airplanes. It was Beauty that killed the Beast.” — Carl Denham, King Kong (1933)
