Thanks for checking up my very first model and entry to the Lego Ideas contest! Here are some more information to satisfy your curiosity.
About the Model
This model is based on the Black Dragon Lego figure 6129c02 that we all discovered in 1997 in the Fright Night Castle subtheme, except it's scaled up 3 times!
The model is 50cm long (19.7in) | 28cm high (11in) | 17cm in width (6.7in) - or 42cm (16.5in) when the wings are deployed. It is made up of 2100 pieces which, as you can see, are all existing pieces!
About the idea
I've always been a huge fan of the 6129c02 Black Dragon since I was a kid, and I recently found mine back from my big Lego box from my youth. It's when I saw KK_Bricks's idea of creating bigger versions of iconic Lego model that I thought I too could create my own version of my iconic Lego model, the Black Dragon.
I started building up the Dragon in 3D, piece by piece, carefully following the lines and shapes of the original design as much as I could. It was not an easy task, especially as I wanted to keep the same aesthetic and articulations. After several months, I ended up with the design you see today. I was pretty happy with how it turned out, especialy as all the pieces I used were already existing in the colors I wanted! I managed to build it completely with real pieces so I could verify that the model would be buildable, would also stand up correctly and wouldn't break appart... and guess what, it hold firmly and still does up to this day!
If you're as much of a fan of the original Lego Dragon model as me, and want to see this Mega-Dragon join your collection on your shelves, please support this project!
Thank you. <3
