Alternate Futures

Alternate Futures is a tribute to some of the greatest sci-fi styles: retro-futurism, cyberpunk and post-apocalyptic.

The builds share a common basic layout, with each build then reimagined though the lens of one of these sci-fi styles. The result is a glimpse of three alternate futures!

This build is inspired by visions of the future from the 1950s, complete with blimp and robotic dog. The pastel colored architecture has soft lines to give a positive and uplifting feel, while the resident Minifigure is sporting the latest retro-futuristic fashion.

This build depicts the gritty cyberpunk aesthetic. The architecture has an Asian influence, with neon signs, exposed power lines and traditional flourishes. The resident Minifigure shelters from the constant rain, using her augmented leg to skilfully sidestep puddles. 

The final build is a glimpse of the world after a global catastrophe. The resident Minifigure wanders the deserted streets to hunt wild animals hiding in the decaying buildings. Nature is slowly reclaiming the landscape and the hazy sky is a constant reminder of the mistakes of the past.

The three builds can be displayed separately or connected together to form a unified scene. Each build is only six studs deep, relying heavily on forced perspective to give the impression of far greater depth.
