- Originality: How original is this - never seen before?
- Building Techniques: How much skill do you think the creator of this MOC has, in terms of building technique?
- Details: Express how much you like the details of the build.
Your feedback is only shown to the creator as well as yourself. It is not available for other users to see. The creator won't see your user name.
One of the most famous car designs, and a true icon of the 1960s, the Meyers Manx Dune Buggy was first released in 1964, and made until 1971, and more recently, was relaunched as an electric engine version, such is the affection for Bruce F. Meyers iconic design.
I think my first exposure to the cool buggy, was either the James Bond film, "For Your Eyes Only," driven by the a henchman of the movie's villain, or perhaps Keyop (Jinpei) from Battle of the Planets(Science Ninja Team Gatchaman) personal vehicle. Either way, it had a real impact on me with it's curves and colours!
Lego have released so many iconic cars over the last few years, from retro classics like the VW Campervan, the Fiat 500 and Mini Cooper, to the top of range super cars from Lambourghini, Ferrari and Porsche. I feel like the Meyers Manx Dune Buggy would be a cool addition to this line up.
Creating the flowing lines of the fibreglass shell is not easy, even with all the amazing new elements released by Lego over the last 5 years. I did try and see if there was a way to use one of the larger balloon segments for the body work over the front wheels, but couldn't figure out a way to attach it in two places to give it enough strength, but I'm pretty happy with how much of the famous silhouette my attempt captures.
Many thanks for all the support on my other projects - hopefully this one either takes you back to the 60s, makes you hear the Beach Boys in your head, or gets you looking for other classic cars to submit!
