Disney Pixar Luxo Jr Lamp

Hello, I am proud to present to you my fourth project here on Lego Ideas: the Disney Pixar Luxo Jr Lamp!

Luxo Jr has got to be the most famous lamp on the planet! He first appeared in the 1986 animated short film 'Luxo Jr.': Pixar Animation Studios' first, regarded at the time as a breakthrough in computer animation. Since then the playful desk lamp has featured in the Pixar logo, played before the Pixar films. Luxo Jr has played a huge role in the advancement of the animation medium and over 30 years since he first appeared, I think it is time we got an official Luxo Jr Lego set. If you also think this, then hit the support button to bring Luxo one step closer to being on shelves!

I have been constantly improving the build for a long time to make it as screen-accurate as possible and this is what I ended up with. The entire model features 222 pieces, with 102 for Luxo Jr himself. The lamp has many joints and rotatable piece to make it as posable as possible. For example, the 'head' section can rotate completely, the entire body can lean forwards and backward, and the whole lamp can swivel on the base. This means there are practically infinite possibilities in terms of the positions that Luxo Jr can be placed in. I used ribbed hose pieces to replicate Luxo's springs and a transparent dome for his bulb. I think this has the potential to be installed with power functions lights to illuminate the bulb.
The famous Luxo ball is built using SNOT techniques and is yellow with a blue stripe. It has two red stars opposite each other like the real ball, and is scaled correctly to the lamp.

I think that this would make a fantastic, small Lego set because first of all it would look great on display because of how accurate to the real thing it is. Secondly, I think it would be great fun to play with because you can give the lamp a lot of personality by positioning it differently and have it do different things. For example, hopping it around, having it jump on things or playing with the ball. Finally, I think another element of playability with this set is that it is perfect for making stop-motion animations which I think would be fun to do and gives this idea a unique selling point. This would be a fine addition to any fan of the Pixar films' collection and would look great alongside WALL-E, characters from Toy Story or the Incredibles who have all been made in Lego form before.

Thank you for reading about my product idea: Disney Pixar Luxo Jr lamp! If you think that this would make a great Lego set, I would really appreciate you supporting and leaving a comment about what you like or think needs improving about the model. If you really like it, why not share it with your friends so it can be seen by more people? 10000 is an enormous challenge but with your help, I know it is possible!

Thank you!
