The Great Lighthouse of Alexandria

The Great Lighthouse of Alexandria is one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Built in the 3rd century BC, the Lighthouse eventually succumbed to earthquakes and was entirely destroyed in the fifteenth century—making it the third longest standing wonder. During its time it was one of the tallest man-made structures on earth, standing over 100 metres tall.

To design this model I looked at the research of the German professor and archeologist Hermann Thiersch so that I could design the lighthouse as accurately as possible.

The included pictures include my personal model of the lighthouse, as well as a digital model that has since been updated to make use of new pieces and pieces that are unavailable in certain colors. My model is about 1400 pieces.

This model would look gorgeous next to official models like 10276 Colosseum, 21042 Statue of Liberty, 21058 The Great Pyramid of Giza, and 21056 Taj Mahal.
