Overview
This creative product idea is based on the original 2009 Angry Birds mobile app that took the world by storm, which officially turns 15 years old in December 2024.
The Bad Piggies have stolen the eggs of the world’s angriest flock! Help the beloved avian demolition crew and rescue their eggs by firing the ill-tempered vertebrates at their towers via the slingshot! Choose from the original five Angry Birds-- Red, The Blues, Chuck, Bomb and Matilda --then build your own structure for the pigs to hide in, and lay waste on those greedy piggies!
How it works
To start, one of five Angry Birds is placed into the slingshot. The slingshot has a mechanism where it can be flipped forward with the press of a finger, launching the bird forward into the air.
The player can use the pigs, blocks and other materials to build whatever structure they can think of. The aim is to launch the birds at the structure to knock it down, repeating this until all pigs that are present in the structure are eliminated. This can be repeated again and again, with plenty of combinations to create loads of structures. The only limit is your imagination!

Inspiration and development
Ever since I received most of the LEGO The Angry Birds Movie sets for Christmas 2016, I dreamed of LEGO sets based on the classic era of the series that I adored the most. Thanks to LEGO Ideas and BrickLink Studio, I could finally make my dream a reality.
To start with, the premise of the set itself is based on the Angry Birds diorama playsets produced by Mattel from 2012 to 2013, albeit without the cards and the points system.
The birds' eyes, the pigs' snouts and the TNT crate all use custom decals in order to fully portray the characters without sacrificing the personality. No non-existing moulds are used.
Why Angry Birds can work as a LEGO set
- This set is designed in a way that it can not only be enjoyed by multiple people at once, but also in a way that it can be played again and again, resulting in a different outcome every time.
- Alternatively, young children can use the Angry Birds characters and assets to create their own stories from their own imagination.
- The Angry Birds franchise has previously had experience with the world of LEGO, and has been proven to work very well in said toy line.
- Other IPs have also been vaguely featured in LEGO form before becoming a LEGO Ideas set.
