This is the iconic streetcar of Kolkata (aka Calcutta) India known as the Tram.
Introduced in the 1920s the Kolkata tram was the cheapest and the most convenient way to travel around the city and stayed that way till 1978 when Calcutta became Kolkata and got a new subway system. As kids, we would run along with the tram and hop and on and off at will. I have always dreamt of a LEGO tram and am now trying to make it a reality.
India has a population of 1.4 billion and right now the Taj Mahal is the only Indian-themed LEGO set. I feel that the Kolkata Tram would make a great set to add to the India theme and would probably be as popular as the London Bus.
About: The model consists of 1441 pieces.
