The Idea
Do you all remember the spectacular LEGO 5956 Expedition Balloon – such an outstanding set, right? Unfortunately, this was the one and only time we were given an airship, at least as far as I can recall, so I thought it was more than overdue for finally another one; but this time not just as a reuse of the big air container part, but fully brick-built!
So that's basically right about the whole idea behind this build, plus the fact that I really admire this kind of majestic means of transportation, there hasn't been anything comparable in the history of mankind ever since, so this build is also meant as a little dedication to the marvelous area of airships.
The Build
The build consists of:
- Airship with two engine nacelles, a pilot stand, and three passenger seats
- Airfield with anchor mast, staff shack, passenger stairs, tank wagon, and windsock
- Pilot, three employees, three passengers, and some animals
- Remote control unit
The Functionality
There are two functions that can be operated via the remote control:
- The airscrews of the two engine nacelles can run.
- The support wheel at the rear of the cabin can extend and retract.
