The Peanuts Project: Snoopy and Woodstock

Introduction:
Hello Lego and Peanuts fans! I would like to introduce you to the Peanuts Project: Snoopy and Woodstock! This project includes Snoopy with his best friend Woodstock along with Snoopy’s doghouse and Woodstock’s nest.

Background:
At a young age, I started reading Peanuts by Charles M. Schulz. After about three years, I finished all fifty years of comics that he wrote. Like millions around the world, I thought of Snoopy as my own friend and loved the creativity, curiosity, and joy he brought through the comic strips. During this time, I became a huge Lego fan and started my own collection. I thought, “wouldn’t it be great to combine these two interests of mine and make a Lego Snoopy?” At that young age though, I could not yet enter my own project. Many years later, I picked the project up again and have finished building Snoopy and Woodstock. Now, I couldn’t be more pleased with how it turned out.

The Set:

·      Snoopy consists of 592 pieces. I built his ankles, hips, elbows, and neck so that they can pivot. In addition, his arms are built with ball joints so that they can move more freely. To add a little bit of color to him, I gave him a red collar and added some black patches to his tail (like he has in the comics). His ears are also able to turn and pivot, adding to his functionality.
·      Snoopy’s doghouse consists of 348 pieces. The vibrant red doghouse captures Snoopy’s character and adds a bright spot to the set with its red bricks and black trim. I also added Snoopy’s name along the back of the doghouse as an extra feature to the set.
·      Woodstock consist of 144 pieces. I build his wings and feet on ball joints so they can be easily moved and positioned. In addition, his tailfeathers can pivot as well. Using yellow as his main color, he contrasts very well with Snoopy and the red doghouse.
·      Woodstock’s tree and nest consists of 117 pieces. Built on an octagonal base, Woodstock’s nest sits atop a small tree.  I wanted Snoopy and his doghouse to be complimented by showcasing Woodstock with his very own home as well.

Conclusion:
For over seven decades, Snoopy has brought joy and laughter to people of all ages across the globe, and I believe that Lego has the same ability. By combining the Peanuts characters and Lego pieces, I hope to renew some of this joy, fun, and laughter that the comic brought to many generations, this time through Lego. I hope that you will join me in making a Lego Snoopy a reality!
