Table Mountain (Afrikaans: Tafelberg) is a prominent landmark in the Western Cape of South Africa, overlooking the city of Cape Town. It is a very popular tourist attraction. Visitors reach the top of the mountain via the cableway or hiking trail. This mountain is a part of the Table Mountain National Park.
Table Mountain is home to a diversity of fauna and flora, the most famous being the King Protea and the rock hyrax (Afrikaans: dassie). The first person to climb the mountain was Antonio de Saldanha. He did so in 1503 when he got lost navigating the South African coast with his ship. This was about 150 years before Jan van Riebeeck arrived in the Cape !
The other two mountains in this build are Devil's Peak and Lion's Head (Afrikaans: Duiwelspiek en Leeukop).
