350 SUPPORTERS REWARD*

Yeah, 350 is not a normal milestone but this is too fun to wait for 400 (Christmas is coming)! For everyone along for the USA 50 ride we've put together a fun lil "Thank You" gift for y'all.

To comply with the spirit of TLG guidelines we aren't including any external site links as part of this reward update but the QR code in the image is for a ZIP file download containing instructions and part files. If you think a random QR code is too sketchy you will otherwise need to navigate to the website in our profile and find "FREEBIES!" in the dropdown menu. From there you can receive the same ZIP package download link via e-mail but a valid e-mail (obviously) will be required to place a free order.

Here we present, as a token of our utmost appreciation, a whimsical element of holiday decor - The Rudolph!

It's Starting!

For this weeks update here is where the build is at so far. We are still waiting on an international delivery from the mothership (cough, it's been 30 days already, cough) to keep going.

The pin drawer with the thin Technic lift arm drawer guides works smoothly! The drawer as currently sized fits a generous amount of pins but the goal is to fit 55 (50 states & DC + 4 spares). Once more pins arrive we'll top off the drawer to see how many it can fit.

Full disclosure: We've given up on trying to get 1x1 letter / number tiles. LEGO, please release a set with more individual letter / number square tiles - signed, Everyone.

In the meanwhile we have a very exciting 350 SUPPORTERS milestone reward* planned! Hint: It's seasonally themed and rhymes with "Bluedolph."

(EDIT)
In pre-emptive response to comments: Yes, we've built the pull-out reference chart too, but we need to leave something for next weeks update barring a shipping miracle.

Notes on Color

In response to comments: Did we pick the best 4 colors to use for a map? Well, no, not really.

A primary project goal is to physically mock-up a 1 plate thick US map at a legible resolution without breaking the bank or using a gazillion pieces. Only tiles and jumper plates are used in the design with the exception of Arizona which utilizes a single left-hand wedge plate. Jumper plates are essential to provide anti-stud locations to allow "pins" to be stuck.

The color combinations selected for the visuals and the prototype are high saturation, complementary, and the most flexible options for experimentation (with apologies to the Mona Lisa set that was recently released with lots of great new pastel and flesh tone pieces).

If anyone is interested, below is the physically available color pallete for all elements used including the bar with tow ball "pin" piece:

(EDIT)
In response to more comments: We had the wrong 1 x 2 jumper plate variant selected, the current jumper element 15573 is available in slightly more options than depicted below.

200 Sincere Thanks!

Physical prototype update coming soon, in the meanwhile enjoy some 4-color map fun!
Still tweaking the coordinate grid for better 3D action - simpler is better, keeping it in the greyscale color family. Any and all feedback appreciated!
