Frozen Wasteland – The Ice Ripper

Story:
“In the year 1834 astronomers made the eerie discovery that the flame of the sun was slowly burning out. 50 years later by the year 1884, the planet has turned into a frozen wasteland, putting an end to civilization as known. The few people left still hanging on, now live in small settlements, completely reliant on a constant need of heat generation.
Fishing is crucial for survival in this harsh new world. With the entire planet frozen over, finding water in its liquid form is extremely difficult. A special vehicle is designed to explore the Frozen Wasteland, in order to find and expose running water and potential schools of fish”
Build:
This vehicle is designed to find and expose lakes under the massive layers of ice and snow. The vehicle is powered by a huge engine running on steam from burning coal, as well as several wind turbines for generating power.
The engine is driving 4 large belts to provide a grip in the snow and to prevent sinking in. In the front the vehicle is provided with 2 large skids to make sure to stay on top of the snow. Both skids have anti-ice systems provided by hot air from the engine. This prevents the skids from icing over and helps keep the friction low.
Plows are installed in the front to break up the snow in case of hitting rough terrain.
In the aft end of the vehicle a large ice cutting device is installed. The purpose of this device is to expose the fresh water by cutting out a small lake in the thick ice.
