The King’s Citadel

Introduction

I am glad to present my first project on the Ideas platform : The King’s Citadel !

It's not just any castle, it's a citadel, the place where the king lives and governs!
And if there is a king, there is a throne room of course, a place in which so many events can happen : An alliance, a plot, a siege, a coronation, a betrayal, etc...This is the idea that I wanted to transcribe in my project : an emblematic place where a thousand stories can be told.

Description

Throughout the design of this project, I wanted to respond at two issues. Namely meet the expectations for adult audience but also the youngest.
So i did my best to make the set as beautiful and original as possible so that it would be deemed worthy of being displayed on a shelf for adult audience.

To appeal to a youngest audience, I wanted to carry out a playable project in each of these parts and design rooms with well-defined functions consistent with the theme in order to offer the maximum number of elements to inspire fabulous stories for the youngest.

You need to know that a citadel is a fortified place which commands the entire kingdom. To represent the importance of the building, I wanted an imposing and harmonious construction with an architecture featuring windows and arches.

I chose not to settle for just 3D but to build it in real condition. This allowed me to see that the project is solid, stable, functional and easily buildable.

Parts : 2940
Width : 27cm
Length : 31cm
Height : 30cm

The interior offers several rooms :

The Throne Room ! The heart of the citadel ! I tried to include as much detail and ornament as possible to emphasize the majestic appearance. The king sits on top surrounded by torches and flags. The upper floor is detachable to allow for better playability.

- Above are The King's Apartments, accessible from a large staircase. The place presents a royal bed, a table with many foodstuffs on the side. On the other side a desk, a fireplace and a cupboard where the king's armor is stored which he can put on if necessary.
A small door gives access to a dovecote, allowing the king to send or receive his missives.
A sliding bookcase hides a secret passage, giving access to the outside.

- Outside, a Magic Fountain is attached to the citadel, it is detachable to serve as a independant decorative element. If you turn it over, a secret magical object is revealed.

- Between the cobwebs and bats, the staircase shelters a Ghost.

Characters

As with the rooms making up the citadel, I also wanted the people living there to be coherent and help tell stories. In addition it was also an opportunity to incorporate some minifigures from different series, many of them are magnificent and deserved their own sets. With my project it’s done!

My project has 10 minifigures but so many more can be added ( queen, prince, musician, magician, bandits, thief, soldier, royal staff, etc... )

Bonus

The design of this project took a long time and required a lot of improvement from me. This is my first MOC and I had to learn everything.
At the beginning I had a lot of ambition and wanting to incorporate a lot of elements, I had to rework certain parts of the citadel many times.
For each level of a thousand supports, I will describe the most important steps of the design. Maybe you find it interesting.

I hope that you will consider my project worthy of your support.
There are already many beautiful castle sets, but none really do justice to the throne room. This is why I think that my participation offers something original and deserves his place here.

Thank you for your attention !
